As we all prepare to spend our days at home, it’s the perfect time to give our living space a thorough spring clean. But watch out, according to a study from Canada, the household cleaners we use to keep our family safe and clean, could actually be having a negative impact on our health.

Some cleaning products can increase asthma risk

The study looked at data from 2022 homes with children between 3 and 4 months old. The team kept a record of how often the same 26 cleaning products were used. Alarmingly, they found that the more these particular products were used, the more chance the children had of developing asthma by the time they were 3 years old.

Opt for non-toxic cleaning products

Here at Austin Air we have been promoting the use of safe cleaning products for some time now. Chemicals and VOC’s are often a major trigger for people with allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivity. Using the right, non-toxic cleaning products will help prevent a build-up of these pollutants in your home.
