Do you have an allergy to dust? Perhaps the never-ending battle to keep dust to a minimum in your home is wearing you out? And now that we’re all spending a lot more time at home, more household traffic means more dust.

What is dust?

Have you ever stopped to think, what exactly is dust? The answer is pretty scary. Dirt, bacteria, pollen, animal dander, human hair, mold, decomposing insects, fibers, dryer lint, insulation, dust mites and their droppings, and skin flakes….lots of skin flakes.

Where does it all come from?

If you feel like you’re losing the fight against dust in your home, you’re not alone. Even regular and thorough cleaning won’t keep it away. The dreaded dust will keep coming back. Every time you open a door or switch on an electrical device, you are creating dust. Just being present in your home is creating dust (remember the skin flakes!!). But don’t despair, we can help.

Air purifiers for dust

We are often asked the question… Which Austin Air Purifier is the best for removing dust? The simple answer is all of them! All our units will effectively remove dust from the air, as well as other contaminants such as VOC’s, chemicals, pet dander, gases and odors. Why not take a look at our full range of air purifiers here.

And to keep dust to a minimum in the rest of your home, here are a few smart tips to make life a little easier.

Wash bedding regularly.

Sheets and pillowcases should be washed weekly to keep your bed dust free. Blankets and non-washable items can be aired outside and given a regular beating (great stress reliever!) to keep them clean and fresh.

Keep your closet neat and tidy.

Keep coats and suits in garment bags to keep the dust out. Clear plastic boxes are a great way to store smaller items, they help prevent dust from settling and they make it easy to see what’s inside.

Clean smart

The key to effective cleaning is using the right products and equipment. Dusters and dry cloths will only help to spread the dust around the room. Use damp cloths, vacuum regularly and clean from top to bottom. Keep clutter to a minimum, it prevents a build-up of dust and makes cleaning much easier and faster.

Carpets are a no no

If you can, try to avoid carpets. They are the perfect place for dust and dirt to hide. Instead, go for tiled, hardwood or vinyl flooring.

Follow these simple steps to finally beat your battle with dust!!
