What is the College Partner Program?

In an effort to help provide cleaner air on college campuses, Austin Air Systems has launched a multi-faceted College Partner Program. As an Austin Air partner, colleges and universities could earn a free medical-grade air purifier (a $715 value) for their campus health clinic to reduce viral transmission and help keep everyone safe. Austin Air will also offer special, partner-only incentives for the students, faculty, and staff. These are just a few of the ways colleges and universities can partner with Austin.

Why is clean air on college and university campuses important?

Students spend most of their time in communal spaces like dorm rooms, classrooms, academic buildings and dining halls. If the air in these spaces is not clean, students are at risk of higher transmission rates of various diseases, including Covid-19, RSV, the flu, and more. According to the CDC, as of February 16, 2023, there have been 102,998,014 total Covid-19 cases in the U.S. The virus is airborne and spreads quickly, especially in college and university settings, making it imperative to keep the air clean (1).

Additionally, airborne toxins from cleaning supplies, furniture, electronics, and building materials can also worsen air quality. And studies show poor indoor air quality can also affect students’ sleep, energy levels, hormones, and mental health. When using government funding, it’s important to invest in government-backed technology. At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the CDC, the EPA, and the WHO all developed guidelines to guarantee a safe return to school and work. Each agency recommended the use of portable Certified HEPA Material air purifiers.
