Austin And Steelers Cornerback Give Important “Clean Air” Message to Elementary School

And It Aligns Perfectly with Their Curriculum!

Clean air and respiratory health have been popular topics of conversation the last few years. Especially when it comes to the health of young, developing children and teenagers. That’s why Austin Air Systems held a sweepstakes, awarding Acmetonia Elementary School (Chestwick, PA) a fun and engaging “Clean Air” assembly.

The “See Air Differently” assembly was emceed by the beloved and charismatic DJ Milk and featured video clips of interviews with professional athletes such as Von Miller, Jordan Poyer, Griffin Jax, Zack Moss, and Heather Mitts.

The assembly message reinforced:

  • why clean air is important for overall health
  • things that can negatively impact air quality
  • what changes students can make to start breathing better

The assembly also covered topics such as:

  • being active instead of sedentary
  • how vaping can destroy your health
  • the main causes of air pollution
  • how to keep your immune system strong

The event also featured an in-person visit from Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Levi Wallace.

“I grew up with asthma, and it limited me in track and football, and I wasn’t able to perform as well as I could,” Wallace said. “Having a partner in Austin, having them support me, knowing that clean air is important to kids’ self-development – and even learning in the classroom – is huge. So, I’m very fortunate to have this partnership.”

McCall Emerick, the sixth-grade science teacher at Acmetonia, entered the school in the sweepstakes. She said the messaging of the program fit perfectly into her curriculum.

“We do a lot of study of what’s in the air around us and why, so it’s actually a perfect tie-in for my science content,” Emerick said.

Greg Heavner, Acmetonia Elementary School principal, said it was a great program.

“DJ Milk, how he presented the program and had the kids dance and learn at the same time – and finishing off with Levi Wallace – was great,” Heavner said.

Stacy Malesiewski, Marketing Director at Austin Air Systems, said the “See Air Differently” assembly is a new initiative that the company will also offer for free to those schools and districts that deploy Austin Air purifiers in their classrooms.

“This is our way of giving back to the schools and communities that choose to partner with us,” Malesiewski said. “Many are using government funding to essentially get free air purifiers for classrooms. Then they get a free assembly on top of that. It’s a win-win.”
