You may have overindulged a little over the last few weeks. But now it’s January and you’re paying the price for all those Christmas goodies you gorged on. So it’s time to detox and get healthy. But before you start on your regime of cabbage soup and celery sticks, you may want to keep an eye on the quality of air you breathe.

There is growing evidence to suggest that air pollution impacts our weight. Exposure to pollutants releases molecules known as ‘cytokines’. Cytokines cause inflammation in the brain which can lead to overeating. Yikes!! I know I need all the help I can get when controlling the urge to raid the fridge. If breathing clean, pollutant free air helps to regulate my appetite, I’m in!! It certainly beats the misery of starting a new diet.

And there are all the other health benefits to consider too. Clean air helps us to sleep better. No interruptions. No snoring. We wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. Breathing clean air in the bedroom also reduces night time asthma and allergy symptoms and it alleviates symptoms of COPD too.

So what do you think? Why not ditch the diet, it wouldn’t have lasted past 2 weeks anyway. And opt for a lifetime of clean, fresh, ‘skinny’ air.
